17.3.14

Focus

How do I make a change? I mean a real lasting change. Not a New Year's resolution. I think I might be diving into a depression again, but not sure of the cause. Sleeping for most of a day without being physically ill; that's not normal.

So I have a newborn who wakes me up one or two times  night, but that doesn't really explain the exhaustion I felt. Feeling as though I couldn't close my eyes or I would be asleep. And no amount of coffee helped. So I think I need a change of some sort.

I need to be less lazy, more productive and better motivated. So how do I start? What does it mean to me to be less lazy and more productive?  Here are a few things I desire for my life on a weekly basis.
1. Play games with my children
2. Actually do excersice
3. Keep the laundry under control
4. Read more
5. Cook more and healthier

That's all. That's what I desire. That's not hard right? For whatever reason, it's been hard for me to be motivated to do these things on a consistent schedule.
Here I am writing these desires down in hopes of being reminded of my goals. And having a clear list should keep my focus on these things and not on the distractions that keep me busy.

25.6.13

Lined

I've known for a while that I'm sorta kinda just a little bit hippie. But now I might be closer to being a hippie. Yup. I've made my own homemade liners. Those kind of liners. Totally stoked about em too.

The pattern is based off this one here https://sites.google.com/site/shewhorunsintheforest/0011

26.4.13

Gas

It's all inside. The gas was pumped in so they could see clearly. But I think they forgot to get it all out. It's stuck. The gas feels as if there is a balloon just sitting still in my body. Which wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact that it hurts. It hurts worse than I don't know what. Painful. Usually I can rub the area that feels gassy, but I can rub on the incision! Ouch. Even movement is good for gas, except there is an incision that will hurt.

10.4.13

Cry

"Rejoice in The Lord always and again I say Rejoice."
Life would be so much easier if it was easier. But, I am called to suffer. I'm called to keep a crook, or thorn in my side. I'm learning to accept this lot I've been given. Even writing those words make me cry. I'm not ready to accept this. LORD I'm too weak for this. This is given to a stronger believer. I'm not ready for this. I just accepted my role as a white mom with a black son. Hard as it will be later, I love that boy more than I knew possible.
I'm called to suffer. For the sake of the Cross and Christ. How can chronic pain glorify God? I surely don't know the answer to that. But I'm not in charge. God is. God sees the big picture. I see a moment in my vapor of a life. Recently i heard a speaker/pastor say that we fail to see the Value of what The Lord is doing in our own life right now, and that Christ s mission is Not to relieve the difficulty, He is on mission to redeem.
I must need more redemption. I need reconciliation. With Christ, with my husband, with friends, with family.

Broke

I'm broken hearted. I'm emotional. I feel as though I've been through a death of a friend. Maybe it's the death of a friendship. It's not what I want. I'm hurt. I'm selfish, prideful, jealous, bitter and resentful. I want to throw in the towel and be done. I also want grace & love to cover the multitudes of sins.
I want this heart to heal. I don't want to be broken anymore. I'm more broken than I even know. It's not fair to my husband. He hurts for me. He hurts in other ways too. I don't want to confess my ugly heart sins. I don't want to have the ugly heart sins. I would love to respond in a way more gracious and glorifying than this.
My heart aches. But my heart is being lift up by others. Not where I thought it should come from. But I'm thankful for that.
I am so thankful and need to be more thankful. I'm loved, just in ways and by those who I didn't expect. But isn't that how God chooses thing to go? When I'm weak, He is strong. I must be brought low in order for Him to be glorified. Otherwise I could take the credit. I'm not credit worthy. I didn't do this. I'm mourning when I should be rejoicing.

9.4.13

Feel

My heart broke. It wasn't anything some one did, it was what they didn't do. Silence filled the room. No offers for help. I was asking for help. My guard was up. I couldn't tell them how hurt I felt. The feeling continues throughout the night. Until it was done. I left more broken than when I arrived. What's wrong with this? What's wrong with me?

I know what's wrong with me. My heart is selfish. My heart wants to be worshiped, more than it wants other to worship God. My God how sinful am I? I am the other thief. Not the on who was justified. The other one. Unbelieving, self righteous know it all, that doesn't need anything from anyone. Until I want something from someone. Then I expect the impossible. I expect them to read my mind. To know how I feel. To know that those kinds of comments hurt.
How should I speak? How can I be more clear without being bluntly rude? I'm not sure. I'm not good with my words. I fake a smile rather than confront.
What's wrong with this? That I don't know. I know I don't feel safe anymore. Am I supposed to feel safe? I don't know. I feel broken, hurt, and weak.

21.3.13

Lost

Not the tv show LOST, the feeling. I might be just as confused as the ending of said show. My heart aches. I try to do much, and rely on the wrong things. My strength comes from The Lord, but it's hard to put everything out there. I'm taught to be self sufficient. That never turns out well. I've attempted to rely on others help and they fail. I'm not sure how I've made the decisions to reach out horizontally and know it will fail, when I know a vertical reach always leads me perfectly. I'm not ashamed of the friendships that I've made, but I am frustrated with them. I miss the old solid friendships that cost more gas. No really it's a money thing. I have tried to put myself out there for others and I can't not do that, but I must guard my heart. The lostness that I feel is more associated with an unreachable expectation I place on these others. They will never hold up to the bond created years ago. The timing is off, but mostly it's a personality glitch. It's just not a lost and found anymore. I'm lost, but I don't need to be found, I need a friend to be lost with me.

16.3.13

Trust

How amazing that Hannah was so courageous. She not only prayed so long for a child, she endured ridicule. She was provoked, but not to anger, to trust in The Lord! How amazing!!!
She could have isolated herself and stayed home from the temple because of the heartache that it always brought. But no! She faced the gloating, the painful reminders that she was barren. She humbled herself and trusted The Lord. Jennifer Carter in her book, Women of Courage, calls Hannah a model of self control. She never justified actions of resentment or bitterness. With her circumstances most women I know would be depressed, bitter, and find comfort in things of this world. Hannah instead, poured herself out to The Lord in humble supplication. Year after year she came to The Lord in the temple and wept. She asked The Lord to open her womb. But her reason for asking for a child wasn't to say I told you so, or to be prideful. She gave the child she longed for back to The Lord. Just like Abraham, she was willing to sacrifice her one worldly desire. Her firstborn son, her only son.
God takes her son Samuel, and because of Hannah's faith, blessed him and others around him.
The Lord is faithful to provide everything that we need when we need it. We just need to trust. Trust in The Lord's goodness, grace, mercy and His plan.

10.3.13

Length

The length of time I've had this feels like forever. It's only been a few months of constant issue, but still; forever.
It's now considered chronic. Really? I thought only old people had chronic stuff. I'm not yet 30 and I've had to take, old man pills and old woman cream. You would think I was 65!! But alas, no I'm not yet 30. I have 3 small children to care for in addition to my husband. I am so incredibly thankful for my husband. He is understanding, patient, kind, helpful. Not always perfectly, but he is wonderful.
I wish I could say I was persevering through this with a happy serving heart. I wish I could say I wasn't selfish most of the time. I wish I could say I poured into my kids all the strength I have.
I am a flawed pitiful sinner. I am selfish. I love myself. Why? I'm such a awful person. I wouldn't like me if I knew me. So why do I love myself so? Because I am me and I'm a big nasty sinner.
I am covered in blood washed linen. I'm enveloped in a flood of grace. Christ is my focus (not perfectly). Christ's strength fights for me. I am pursued by Love. I'm forgiven much. I'm forgiven ALL. I'm rescued from ME.
The length of time I have to endure this? I don't know. But I do know God that will carry me through anything. He will refine me into the person he wants me to be. The person I am made to become. ME. As long as that takes. It might take my whole life.

31.12.12

Last

Last post for this year. Last fast food for the year. Last football game for the year. Good thing don't always last. But sometimes they do last. Sometimes things last longer than you expect. Good, bad, mundane. The good things? Are still good. The bad things? Some are still bad, and some have turned really good.

Conversations have produced great things. Will those things last? I hope so. I pray they last and flourish more than I can imagine. Only God knows how He will use those conversations. Talking I like. Waiting? Not so much. Although, waiting two years wasn't that bad looking back. In the midst of waiting, it's so so awful. But looking back from the other side of the wait, it looks better than it probably was.

The last thing? Pray. Pray. Pray.

God help me. A sinner. A lazy sinner. Leave my weak moments in the past and give me the strength to move beyond. Life I pray for my eyes to fixed upon the Ever.Last.ing. The First and the Last. Praise The Lord O my soul. Give me songs to teach my children. Bless them in despite my shortfalls. Bless my husband even in my weakness of emotion. Praise The Lord for His Providence and Provision.

13.12.12

Gone

She died. She passed away. She's gone. She is no longer with us. No matter the word used to describe it, the fact remains that she died four days shy of her 101st birthday. I sang happy birthday to a frail still small shadow if a woman I knew.

She made things. She spent the time to teach others to make things. I was taught many many times how to crochet, yet I could never catch the correct tension. I was about 13 years old when I stayed a week with my grandma. She made breakfast for me every morning. We sat quietly in recliners doing our crafts. She was crocheting and I was making friendship bracelets. I felt so empowered by her. She was old, but still full of life and energy and knowledge. She had lived through the wars, and the depression, and five children. One of which is a stubborn stubborn man I call dad. She had knowledge of things I had no concept. She was a farm, country, small town woman. I was an awkward city raised teen. Not sure of who I was really. I now know of the shell of a girl I had made into the me they all knew. She taught me to slow down, and relax. That the phone wasn't the ultimate idol. Relax may not be the right word here. She was calm about the things she did. Her actions were deliberate, straight forward and consistent. She was always doing something. Whether it was crocheting or cooking or teaching or mending or caring, always something.
She told me of the time the school called to ask her to substitute teach a class. She only had an eighth grade education, but the school asked her and she accepted. She substituted for a woman off for maternity leave. She stayed for the rest of the year.
Life was different with her. I felt like I could breath, I could be my awkward little self and she loved me for it. I wasn't weird for being creative. I wasn't being lazy because I was working on a craft project. I was useful and praised for the things I did.

I wish she would have come to my wedding. I missed her presence. I miss her presence even now. She was embarrassed by her age spots. I said she had earned each one rightfully.

She had been deteriorating for four years now, but it does actually grieve me that she is no longer on the earth. Why should this affect me? I don't know. God is sovereign over all of this. My actions should reflect His goodness and mercy, but instead I reflect a poor depressed lost soul. Lost in the forest and jungles of my own mind and emotions. God have mercy on me, I Am A Sinner.
Gone. She is gone. But He lives, ten thousand years and ForeverMore!

7.12.12

Butterfly

Here is my first attempt at a butterfly pillow. I'm hoping this will be a well loved item. I used old stuffing from an unused pillow. It only took a few hours to make. Not too bad for not having a pattern. The hardest part was getting the buttons in the correct placements.

5.9.12

Deep

I feel like I could cry. I feel I could curl up and hide. I feel not so much like myself, but as a shell. Myself is deep inside of this shell, waiting. Waiting for what I'm not so sure. The pains I have been experiencing have gone on for too long. Those pains that just pick at you and taunt you every second of every moment. My thoughts are clouded by the pains. I'm unable to concentrate for long, although my attention span was short to begin with.

Not that things get boring, its just the clouds get in the way and I cannot see past my nose. I guess that's why I feel like myself is buried so deep. So deep I can't find a way out? Or maybe I'm so deep I'm stuck. Either way, I'm a shell at the moment. Not a very hard shell at that, the kind that's able to be dented.

Lord help this shell to survive. Give me the strength to provide a loving shelter for those in my home. Give me the patience to discipline when needed. Lord help my responses, and curb my reactions.
It's through Christ's finished work on the cross that I can pray this,
Amen

20.8.12

Paint

Sometimes a little paint can change everything. I don't have before pictures of these things, but I have loved re making them. Remaking them into lovely functional pieces for our home. And I know that in 5 years if these are covered in stickers and colored markers and peeling paint, iI didn't spend much money and enjoyed my accomplishment.

17.7.12

Hot

I think it's been hot everywhere for a few weeks. The temperature might be up there, but it's nothing compares to the shock of these little bad boys.

Yes those are hot peppers. When we purchased the little plant, the tag said " chocolate" pepper. Well unless they were thinking Mexican chocolate, these are not the right plant. Cracks me up every time our kids check in the plants for us, they talk about how the red ones are not chocolate.

26.6.12

Official

We are legally a family of five. I was way more excited than I expected myself to be. I thought it would just be another day. It was really fun to just enjoy the day and be excited for our family. We went out and we celebrated! Love our little family.

12.6.12

Hesitations

It's the little things that really get me. Ive been reading this book and it has what Ryan would call Nuggets. Nuggets of truth that I need to be reminded of daily. One of those is this...
In answering a specific question, and you hesitate, you give Satan a foothold. A foothold to inundate your mind with literally thousands of lies and excuses. Seriously! I am so guilty of this. Now I'm do need to clarify that lots of decisions need to be prayed about and mulled over. I'm speaking of a specific question, and other small not so significant questions.
So here I am confessing that I allow footholds in my mind on a regular basis. This is not healthy. I need to look to God for the strength, and know I have confidence to make decisions without hesitation. God give us grace. Love covers a multitude of things, good and bad.
Remember God provides for what He requires.

7.5.12

Bless

I want to know how to do this. Please let me know how to make it through without fumbling over myself and completely wrecking the whole thing. I have good intentions. I promise I really do. But things just come out wrong. I get in my own way. I have three left feet instead of just the normal two. To say I am uneasy about most of the things I do is sometimes an understatement. Not always though. I am immensely blessed. But with blessings comes the responsibilities to them. That is when I seem to have the most trouble. Maybe next time I will get this right. Or maybe not...

29.4.12

Answered

Yes. The answer was yes. She said yes, we said yes, they said yes. Most importantly God said yes, the time is now. Time to add a little one into our home. He is so small. He is a treasure. He keeps us awake at night. My hands are full, full of great things. Full of God's great gifts. Full of grace poured out onto me. And yes sometime my hands are just dirty and covered in poo or spit up. But joyous nonetheless. God has to richly blessed us. God's timing is perfect. Never what I would have expected. And that is why He is God and I am not. Praise God!

23.1.12

Call

I am hesitant to even talk about some of these things. Not that talking will make them disappear, but it means I am overflowing with excitement.
We have received a phone call for which we have been waiting a long time for!!! YES! Specifics don't even matter at this point. I am overwhelmed with so many emotions. I am first of all so thankful to God's faithfulness. Even when I was doubtful this kind of thing would ever happen. Or I was scared that I was forcing it, and it wasn't God's plan for our lives. I am scared. I am full of peace. I want to cry. I want to cry GLORY! I want to shout from the rooftops, but then I want to hide and just clean my house and freeze meals for the tough times ahead. I also want to hide and not tell anyone just in case.
What if... what if... what if...
God has all of these in His hand and is in control. I am so glad I am not in control. I can't even imagine how I would screw this up. Seriously.

God had given to us a Heart for the orphan. We have now been given the opportunity to be in line for a child. We will patiently wait for God's timing to bring that child home to us. Whether it is this particular child or if He has other plans for this child. We will praise His Glorious Name either way.

Lord, we praise you for your wonderful faithfulness. We pray that your hand be upon K. Keep her safe. Soften her heart to the amazing provision you have provided. Lord we thank you for keeping us. Allow us to be ambassadors of Christ for Your Glory. Keep the Evil Ones minions at bay from our home and family life. I pray this will not overwhelm the little ones already in our home. I pray this will be a great opportunity for us to proclaim your awesome adoption of us into Your family. Thank you for this chance and glimpse of your goodness.
We Pray in Christ's finished work on the cross.
Amen
